George Lazenby's first serious acting role was as James Bond in
the film
On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969)
Opinions about George Lazenby and the film On Her Majesty's Secret
Service are very mixed - some think of him as the best James Bond
007 and some think he was the worst, and the same is valid for the
movie.
The movie is considered one of the most faithful adaptations of
Iain Fleming's James Bond novels.
Lazenby was a former commando, expert skier, expert martial artist
with multiple black belts, accomplished horseman, motorcycle racer,
car racer which makes him a perfect 007, but it was rumored he was
"difficult to work with".
George Lazenby's agent talked him into refusing a seven-film contract
as James Bond, which Lazenby calls the "biggest mistake of
his life".
